Reimagining the Academy conference at Miami this fall puts out call for proposals
Miami University, Kent State University, and Bowling Green State University have joined forces for the next Reimagining the Academy conference that will focus on topics related to inclusive excellence.
This year’s conference will be held at Miami on Friday, Sept. 20, through Saturday, Sept. 21, in the Armstrong Student Center. The theme, Coalition-Building in a Divided World, builds on the success of last year’s conference at Kent State.
Registration will be free to faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members, and virtual engagement opportunities also will be available.
Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members are invited to submit a panel, roundtable, paper, or workshop proposal through the Call for Proposals portal, which is now open. The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 3, and presenters will be notified of proposal status by early July.
Previously, each university held an annual conference on topics related to inclusive excellence. This alliance brings together the communities and expertise of the three universities and is open to students, faculty, and staff across Ohio and beyond.
This year’s conference will explore how individuals can come together to build on strengths, discuss and develop spaces and strategies of resistance and support, and learn from one another. Organizers call the theme of coalition-building “a form of radical hope and a pathway to a more just world in our increasingly divided world.”
In an effort to support presenters in developing their proposals, organizers created a Google Doc version of the questions on the online form so those submitting can craft their responses prior to submission. Open the Google Doc, make a copy, and complete all questions in the document. Once completed, copy and paste responses into the online form.
Proposals submitted via email or any other avenue will not be accepted, and conference organizers will only accept proposals submitted on time via the online form.
