Richard McVey joins Miami’s Board of Trustees
1981 graduate founded MarketAxess and is namesake of university’s data science building
Richard McVey ’81, founder and executive chairman of MarketAxess, is the newest appointment to the Miami University Board of Trustees.
McVey’s term as national trustee begins June 28 and ends June 27, 2027. He founded MarketAxess, a leading electronic trading platform for global bond markets, in 2000.
As a student-athlete at Miami, McVey was co-captain of the university’s golf team his senior season, the same year Miami won the Mid-American Conference men’s golf championship. McVey has served on the university’s Foundation Board and endowed scholarships for the golf program and the Farmer School of Business.
Earlier this year, the McVey Data Science building officially opened on Miami’s Oxford campus. McVey, a pioneer and innovator in the area of financial technology, was the lead donor in that endeavor, helping create an academic epicenter for data science that encourages transdisciplinary collaboration.
Miami’s Board of Trustees includes up to 17 members, 11 of whom are appointed by the governor of Ohio, with the advice and consent of the Senate. Each gubernatorial appointee must be an Ohio resident and two must be enrolled students.
