From Move-in Day to convocation, Miami University welcomes the Class of 2028 to its campuses this week with a full slate of Welcome Weekend events.
Nearly 4,330 first-year students are projected to join the Miami family this year, coming from 42 states (plus Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico) and more than 25 countries counting the United States.
Other highlights of the projected Class of 2028 include:
- 63% of the class is from Ohio
- 17% are first-generation students
- an average GPA of 3.81
- 15% of the Class of 2028 are domestic students of color
Miami’s Welcome Weekend includes several activities before the start of fall semester classes on Aug. 26. Historically held on the Thursday before the start of fall semester, this year’s primary Move-in Day was shifted to Friday to enhance the transition experience for students and their families.
Also on Friday is Welcome Home, hosted by Miami Activities and Programming, from 7:30-11 p.m. The event spans the Oxford campus, including a roller rink in Armstrong Student Center, events at Cook Field, and a fireworks show behind Benton Hall at the end of the evening.
Other events include Saturday Under the Stars from 8:30-11 p.m. at Cook Field and the Love and Honor Convocation from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Sunday at Millett Hall. Incoming students can celebrate the start of the academic year with a free T-shirt and by learning the Miami fight song at convocation.
A new student guidebook is also available.
