Board of Trustees extends President Crawford’s contract until 2029
Other action includes approval of designated funds for MiamiTHRIVE initiatives
President Crawford’s contract will run through June 30, 2029. The board increased his salary 3% to $572,335 and also approved a $75,000 bonus. President Crawford is serving in his ninth year as president of Miami.
“The Board of Trustees is thrilled with President Crawford’s leadership of Miami University and his ability to inspire the change needed to lead Miami into the future,” said Mary Schell, chair of the Board of Trustees. “The accomplishments over the past year have been tremendous, and his commitment to the success of our students and our community is evident and unwavering.”
The board also approved Strategic Initiatives Fund Resolution R2025-07, which dedicates a fund of $35 million from the university’s reserve for investment fluctuation fund for the purpose of funding new initiatives as identified through MiamiTHRIVE.
MiamiTHRIVE is the university’s strategic planning process, which identifies opportunities to strengthen Miami to support its teaching, research, and service missions.
“The board is so pleased with the work that has been done to advance our university in this strategic planning process,” Schell said. “We are so grateful to the hundreds of faculty and staff who have participated in sharing feedback and generating ideas. We are energized by the momentum and excited to further this important work.”
Other trustee action items included:
- The naming of the Dauch Academic Advising Center located in the Farmer School of Business;
- The naming of the Sharon and Graham Mitchell Sustainability Park, a new solar field located adjacent to the geothermal plant on Western campus;
- Approved six administrator emerita and one administrator emeritus;
- The conferral of degrees for the 2024-2025 academic year; and
- Approved the revised Miami University Mission Statement.
