University Statements
Miami is committed to the idea all members of Miami community feel included, heard, and respected
Consistent with its mission as a student-centered, public university that embraces diversity of thought and background, Miami University adheres to a practice of institutional restraint and will not issue statements advocating for a particular foreign policy, political, or social position. The university is committed to the idea that all members of the Miami community feel included, heard, and respected. While past institutional statements have often been intended as vehicles for sharing information about support resources for all campus audiences, the university is aware that those statements can also stifle campus conversation rather than promote it. The university will reserve its institutional voice for matters that have direct and significant impact on university operations and the immediate communities we serve, or that directly threaten the university’s mission and values of free inquiry. We will continue to be here to offer support and care for all of our students, faculty, and staff as needed.
Students: Support resources are available through Student Counseling Service, including the 24/7 H.O.P.E. Line, as well as through the Office of the Dean of Students, the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion, and International Student and Scholar Services.
Faculty and Staff: Support resources are available through the Employee Assistance Program, as well as through International Student and Scholar Services.
