Climate Action and Sustainability Council Working Groups

Last year the Miami University Climate Action Task Force — established in 2020 —  and the Sustainability Committee — established in 2009 — combined to form the Climate Action and Sustainability Council (CASC).

The council helped finalize the Miami 2040: Climate Action Plan for Miami University, signed in May by President Gregory Crawford.

Executive Steering Committee

Recently President Crawford established the Climate Action and Sustainability Council Executive Steering Committee and appointed members of the President's Executive Council to serve. This committee will guide and ensure the implementation of the objectives that will lead to the achievement of Miami's goals for carbon neutrality and pursuit of a platinum ranking from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking and Assessment Rating System (STARS).

This committee has the appropriate authority and institutional knowledge to oversee the council’s six working groups.
