Nearly 1,100 degree candidates expected at Millett Hall
Fall Commencement ceremony is Dec. 13
The ceremony is at 3 p.m. at Millett Hall. Chris Makaroff, special assistant to the provost and former dean of the College of Arts and Science, will deliver the commencement address.
Makaroff was a co-recipient of this year’s Benjamin Harrison Medallion. The medallion is awarded annually for extraordinary and sustained contributions related to teaching, research, and service. Makaroff excelled as an educator and administrator throughout a 35-year career at Miami that saw him mentor hundreds of students while also securing significant funding for the university.
The breakdown of the 1,099 degrees expected to be conferred:
- 734 bachelor degrees
- 276 master’s degrees
- 37 associate degrees
- 32 certificates
- 20 doctorate degrees
Four individuals will receive honorary degrees:
- Graham Mitchell ’73, M.En. ’76
- Sharon Janosik Mitchell ’73
- Richard Cocks
- Richard Smucker ’70
All degree candidates will be individually recognized during the ceremony, and the event will be livestreamed on YouTube. More information is available on the Fall Commencement webpage.
