Nearly 8,000 fans packed Millett Hall for One Miami Weekend as Miami University’s basketball teams netted a pair of victories.
The RedHawks earned a 72-34 women’s basketball victory over Ohio University before completing the Bobcat sweep with a 73-69 win in the men’s game.
Attendance climbed to 7,889 as the RedHawks rose to 8-1 in the Mid-American Conference men’s standings. The games, along with two nights of Miami ice hockey, were part of the most recent One Miami Weekend. Complimentary tickets were available for Miami faculty and staff, while members of the community also received complimentary basketball tickets.
Festivities included a carnival on the concourse, postgame autographs, and giveaways for students. The university also celebrated its basketball alumni, including RedHawk legend Wally Szczerbiak, a former NBA player who now works as an analyst for the New York Knicks. Fans were even given “Wally faces” to hold throughout the day.
