Saruna Ghimire, Scripp Research Fellow in the Scripps Gerontology Center, received $449,684 from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services for a project entitled "BRICKS: Building Resilience in Vulnerable Immigrants Communities through Social Connectedness, Knowledge, and Self-Empowerment."
Jonathon Vivoda, associate professor of Sociology and Gerontology and Scripps Research Fellow, received $216,148 from the Regents of the University of Michigan, pass-through funds from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, for a project entitled "Demonstration and Evaluation of Employer-Based Driving Safety Programs."
Heather Menne, Scrips Fellow and associate professor of Sociology and Gerontology, received $125,000 from USAging, pass-through funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, for a project entitled "ACL: Aging Network Care Navigation Services."
Michael Robinson and Katia Del Rio-Tsonis, professors of Biology, received $214,227 from the National Eye Institute for a project entitled "Utilizing the Chicken Embryo to Decode the Transcriptional Regulation of FOXE3."
Jason Berberich, associate professor, and Jason Boock, assistant professor of Chemical, Paper, and Biomedical Engineering; and Neil Danielson, professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, received $75,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for a project entitled "Development of a Simple Enzyme Inhibition Biosensor for Lead in Drinking Water."
Susan McDowell, vice president for research and innovation, received $51,614 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, pass-through funds from the National Science Foundation, for a project entitled "Filling the Gap." The remaining $71,945 of this award is allocated to the project led by Sarah Woodruff in the Discovery Center for Evaluation, Research, and Professional Learning.
John Porchowsky, project manager, Department of Planning, Architecture and Engineering, received $125,388 from the Federal Aviation Administration for the project entitled "2024 Airport Improvement Program Grant."
Kara Strass, director of Miami Tribe Relations; Daryl Baldwin, executive director of the Myaamia Center; and Jacqueline Rioja Velarde, Myaamia Center program manager, received $40,000 from the Henry Luce Foundation for a project entitled "Akimaansa: Myaamia Young Ambassador Internship."
Sarah Larson, associate professor of Political Science, received $38,292 from the City of Beavercreek for a project entitled "Revenue Analysis for City of Beavercreek.
Yue Li, associate director of the Discovery Center for Evaluation, Research, and Professional Development, received $27,699 from the National Science Foundation, pass through funds from the University of Cincinnati, for the project entitled "NSF ITEST SEI: Biology Meets Engineering, Expanding Trans-disciplinary STEM Education."
Susan Brehm, associate dean and professor of Speech Pathology and Audiology, received $15,284 from Temple University, pass through funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, for a project entitled "A Mixed Methods Analysis of Pediatric Voice Therapy."
