Workday is almost a year old

Our Workday go-live date of July 1, 2024, is nearly fully removed from our rearview mirror. As we move forward, we continue to grow more familiar with the system’s terminology, tasks, and navigation shortcuts.

Since starting this journey, we’ve developed many valuable resources to support your success. These include:

  • Google Chat Group: Workday at Miami offers real-time collaboration with peers and central administration staff.
  • Workday Wednesday Zoom Drop-In Sessions: Join us weekly from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. to ask questions and receive assistance. Click here for the meeting link.
  • Support Tickets: Submit requests for help using the shortcut MiamiOH.edu/workdaysupport.
  • Workday Information Canvas Site: This site, which hosts original Workday training materials, will be revamped this year to improve content organization. Updates will also reflect any process or procedure changes from the past 10 months.

Access to these resources requires authentication through Miami’s network via single sign-on (SSO), ensuring compliance with Miami’s responsible use of computing resources policy.

Ongoing Training and Support

The central administrative personnel teams have conducted numerous training sessions and will continue to do so as new features and functionality are introduced. Additionally, many individual office training sessions and department meetings have been held and will continue indefinitely, thanks to the ongoing efforts of university divisional budget managers and departmental leaders who provide guidance and support to their teams.

System Upgrades and New Features

Since our go-live date, Workday has introduced new features and enhanced functionality through two system-wide upgrades, keeping us at the forefront of innovation. Information about these features can be found in the Workday User Guides by selecting the Documentation link under your profile icon.

The WorkdayInfo website is also updated regularly with important information about the Workday Student project. While the site does not include Workday-specific screenshots, it provides the overall status of the project and timeline updates. A new Workday Info Miami blog site will be introduced later this fiscal year, offering targeted updates on specific topics of interest—stay tuned for that announcement!

Additional Learning and Resources

Explore the latest Workday Learning resources by using the global search prefix shortcut “LRN:” or by visiting the Learning app in your left-side Workday menu. You can also try out the Workday Assistant (the chat bubble in the upper right of the global navigation bar next to the notifications icon). Workday’s product team is actively enhancing the Assistant’s capabilities, which will continue to improve with upcoming upgrades. An advanced Workday Navigation Training - Intermediate course is now available for enrollment.  The one-hour course has eight offerings available now at the computer lab in the Staff Development Center in Oxford. Virtual  sessions are also planned and will be added to the course session selection list.

Workday Mobile is another great resource for on-the-go access. The Mobile Assistant now accepts voice input in addition to text/typing, making it even more convenient to stay connected.
